The Eisack Valley extends from the source of the river Eisack from Brenner up to Bozen. Brixen is the main city, while the medieval city Vipiteno/Sterzing is the true heart of the “Wipptal”, the upper Eisack Valley, where the Alps meet the Dolomites and make up 5 modern ski districts with a great variety of slopes for alpine skiing. Whether you choose the over 30 km award-winning slopes for unlimited fun or you want to try the first steps on snow, there is enough to go around.
The 5 districts are:
- Plose with 43 km of snow-covered slopes, Gitschberg in Maranza and Jochtal in Valles - they form a single ski area called Mühlbach, one of the best equipped facilities with 44 km guaranteed snow and 20 ski facilities;
- Ratschings-Jaufen is one of the ski areas with the best snow guarantee
- Rosskopf with the area Ladurns - Gossensass with 15 km slopes and 6 facilities.
The Eisack Valley is also part of a bigger ski area called Dolomiti Superski. The Wipptal is one of the largest night skiing areas in Europe, with both unspoilt facilities in the side valleys and the most fashionable and famous locations. There is a free shuttle bus that reaches the facilities of Steinach, Bergeralm, Schlick 2000 and the Stubai Glacier. The facilities south of Brenner are also easy to reach, such as Ratschings, Rosskopf, Plose or the small skilift in Gasse, in the Ridnaun Valley, which has special rates for the Schneeberg Hotel guests and is perfect for those who first move the first steps on the snow.
