To experience the most authentic and original side of South Tyrol you need to see the weekly markets. In this region markets take place weekly, monthly, annually or for some particular recurring event. Farmers’, artisans’ markets and flea markets come from a very long tradition. By visiting them you will immerge into the south Tyrolean way of life and see that there is something to suit everybody's fancy… a colourful coming and going all year long. The cities’ and villages’ markets invite the visitors to stroll and look around. Many cities have markets once a week, so you will have the chance to see at least one during your stay in the region. For example, the city of Sterzing/Vipiteno has its market on Tuesdays from 8:30 till 13 o’clock. Bigger markets take place during particular events or holidays, such as the Christmas Market or the Stegener Market in Puster Valley. From the fresh-baked bread to fruits and vegetables of the farmsteads, from made-in-Italy leather goods to useful house articles: you will find a little bit of everything.
