Marigold
Scientific name: Calendula officinalis
Family: Compositae (Asteraceae)
Marigold has been cultivated in Central Europe for so long that its exact origin is unknown. Nowadays, it is cultivated worldwide. It is mainly its flowers that are harvested, dried and processed to be used in naturopathy for infusions, ointments or extracts. With its yellow-orange flowers, marigold is perfect to add a touch of colourful beauty not only to gardens, but to a variety of dishes, too.
